A forklift truck covers fewer kilometres in a year than a car does on a good day — and yet it still wears out its tyres. It is not the distance that matters, but the load, the surface and how often the forklift changes direction. The tyre’s design determines how long it lasts, how smoothly the vehicle runs and whether the warehouse floor is left with marks afterwards.

Three designs, three areas of application
Choosing the right forklift tyre depends first and foremost on the type of ground on which the forklift is used.
- Solid rubber and super-elastic tyres cannot go flat and can carry very heavy loads. They are the standard choice for farmyards and indoor halls, but offer little cushioning.
- Pneumatic tyres provide significantly more suspension and are better suited to uneven ground outdoors — but they are vulnerable to anything lying about on a works yard.
- Solid tyres are moulded onto the rim and have a very low profile. They are fitted to pallet trucks and compact machinery used in warehouses.
- Light-coloured, soot-free mixtures do not leave streaks. Where food, medicines or light-coloured screed are involved, there is simply no alternative.
When the change is due
Unlike with passenger cars, there is no statutory minimum tread depth. The manufacturer’s wear indicator is the deciding factor — once this is reached, the strain on the mast and the driver increases noticeably. We’ll take a look at your vehicles and let you know what needs doing now and what’s due in six months’ time.
Assembly where the forklift is located
Changing forklift tyres usually means taking the vehicle out of service. With our mobile forklift tyre fitting service, we come to you and arrange an appointment to suit your schedule. We can also collect and return the tyres on request.
