How to measure tyre tread depth
- Check several points across the entire width of the tyre
- Use a tread depth gauge or a measuring device
- Pay particular attention to internal and external edges
- Check all four tyres regularly
Statutory minimum tread depth
In Germany, the statutory minimum tread depth is 1.6 mm. For safety reasons, we recommend replacing tyres well before this point: from around 3 mm for summer tyres and from around 4 mm for winter tyres.
