How to read tyre markings: Example 205/55 R16 91 V
V is the speed index, i.e. the maximum permissible speed
- 205 is the tyre width in millimetres
- 55 is the ratio of the tyre’s height to its width, expressed as a percentage; this is the aspect ratio
- R16 stands for the radial tyre type and the rim diameter in inches
- 91 is the load index, i.e. the maximum permissible load
